Personal Alarm Setup

For your convenience a quick start guide is provided in the box along with your new SOS personal alarm. If you’re having difficulty please do reach out to one of our friendly support staff at support@carexact.com.au who are more than happy to help.

Install the CareXact App

Find the CareXact app on either the Apple App store or Google Play store. Its free to install and use. At the welcome screen sign-up for a new account, or if an existing customer login.

Charge your personal alarm

If you ordered a SOS personal alarm without a pre-installed SIM, install your SIM card now.

Plug in the charging cradle and charge your SOS Pendant. While in the cradle, turn on the personal alarm device by pressing the top side button with the phone symbol for one second. The lights on the front will flash briefly.

You will know the Pendant is on and working by briefly pressing the SOS button, or by removing the unit from the cradle.  The unit will vibrate once.

Add a personal alarm to your account

Find the 8 digit product code inside the SOS personal alarm box. The product code is unique to your SOS personal alarm.

Open the CareXact app and on the devices screen press the + button to add a new device. The app will now guide you through the process of adding your new personal alarm device. The app will ask for your product code, emergency contact information, and the name of the person wearing the pendant. As the final step of adding the device to your account the app will activate your device.

If you purchased a SOS personal alarm with a pre-installed Telstrs SIM card you will be asked to sign-up to a yearly CareXact subscription via PayPal at $0 for the first year. $0 because the first year of SIM costs are included in the purchase price.


Your personal alarm is now active

Your activated personal alarm checks the CareXact servers for device settings changes over the internet using the devices SIM card data plan every 10 minutes. These updates will program the emergency contacts and fall detection settings for your personal alarm.


Test your new personal alarm

Emergency contacts with SMS enabled via the device settings will receive an SMS when the pendant has been successfully applied the device settings. This will normally happen within 10 minutes of adding the device to your CareXact account. After receiving this SMS, test the device. This will verify your SIM card is active, the numbers you have entered as emergency contacts are correct, and the personal alarm is ready for use.

Press and hold the SOS button until it starts calling. The personal alarm will call and SMS emergency contacts in order.

Adjust your personal alarm settings

To adjust device settings press the settings button next to the personal alarm on the devices screen of the CareXact app. From the device settings you may,

  • disable or adjust the sensitivity of fall detection

  • adjust emergency contact preferences

  • set scheduled reminders , including medication reminders

  • update the contact details of the person wearing the pendant


v1.6 of the CareXact app supports broadcast text-to-voice messaging and a Find Device feature on the Map screen that triggers the pendant to verbally announce “I’m here” to assist in finding a misplaced pendant. Both these commands are SMS based and require the phone number of the SIM card installed in the personal alarm device.

If you purchased a pre-installed Telstra SIM, we setup these features before your personal alarm was posted to you so there is nothing more for you to do. If you chose the no SIM option when purchasing, we need the phone number associated with your SIM card. Send your product code and the phone number of your personal alarm device SIM to support@carexact.com.au and we will upgrade your personal alarm to have access to these features.
